Hitchin is a popular market town of considerable charm and character. Rich in medieval and Georgian buildings its original street pattern still remains to this day containing buildings and pubs of historic interest and old world grace.

Hitchin Swimming pool has a public indoor and outdoor swimming pool, 5 minutes walk from the Firs Hotel providing a modern 25m x 17m deck level main pool and a warmer toddlers' pool. A 50m heated outdoor pool with a learner pool and sun terrace is open from May to September.
